Bilberry is one of the best-documented Nordic berries for circulation and cellular protection.

We use it because of its high anthocyanin content. These compounds are responsible for the berry’s deep colour and for much of its researched activity on blood vessels, microcirculation and oxidative balance.

Why bilberry?

Bilberry grows wild in Nordic forests and naturally accumulates high levels of anthocyanins. These flavonoids have been studied for decades in relation to vascular function, microcirculation (including in the eye), and cellular antioxidant defence.

This combination of traditional use and modern research makes bilberry a strong foundational ingredient.

The active compounds that matter

The primary actives are anthocyanins.

We prefer extracts standardised for anthocyanin content. Standardisation gives consistency and makes the contribution of the extract in a finished product clearer.
