Men’s health supplements often start with micronutrients European food law already recognises — zinc, niacin and the B-vitamins — declared clearly for a daily routine you can keep.
“We conclude that zinc may play an important role in modulating serum testosterone levels in normal men.”

Men’s health supplements often start with micronutrients that physiology and regulators already know well: zinc, niacin, and the B-vitamins that support normal energy metabolism and psychological function under EU rules. Add mealtime bacterial cultures and you have a second, quieter daily habit — composition on the label, claims only where the EU Register allows.
In this category you will find MEN / DAILY (zinc, niacin, blueberry fruit extract and botanicals), KLAR / DAILY (B1, B6, B12 with caffeine and L-theanine), BALANS / DAILY (eight named cultures plus Actilight® fibre), plus The DAILY DUO and THE HIGH COAST COLLECTION.
Search interest in men’s health supplements, zinc testosterone, and niacin energy metabolism sits at the crossroads of clinical nutrition and EU food law. Zinc deficiency was linked to human hypogonadism in landmark mid-20th-century work; decades later, controlled feeding studies and EFSA opinions formalised what can — and cannot — be said on a European label.
This article summarises verified research and authorised claim language for the micronutrients that appear in everyday men’s formulas such as MEN / DAILY, KLAR / DAILY and BALANS / DAILY (also sold as The DAILY DUO and within THE HIGH COAST COLLECTION). It is not medical advice and it does not treat disease.
Severe zinc deficiency in young men was historically associated with delayed sexual maturation and hypogonadism — a connection established through the work of Ananda Prasad and colleagues in the 1960s and reviewed in later nutritional retrospectives.1
In 1996, Prasad et al. reported that restricting dietary zinc in healthy young men lowered serum testosterone over 20 weeks, while zinc repletion in marginally zinc-deficient older men raised testosterone over several months (Nutrition, 1996).2 Cellular zinc correlated with testosterone in a cross-sectional sample of 40 men. Those findings describe nutritional status and endocrine correlates; they are not a licence to claim that any capsule “boosts” hormones.
EFSA’s NDA Panel concluded a cause-and-effect relationship between dietary zinc and maintenance of normal serum testosterone concentrations (EFSA Journal 2010;8(10):1819).3 The authorised claim wording concerns maintenance of normal levels, not enhancement above normal, fertility treatment, or bodybuilding outcomes. Foods must be at least a “source of zinc” under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 conditions of use.
Niacin (vitamin B3) is a cofactor in redox metabolism. EFSA has substantiated claims that niacin contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue (EFSA Journal 2010;8(10):1757), with authorised wording later listed in Regulation (EU) No 432/2012.4 Again, the legal framing is contribution to normal physiology in the context of adequate intake — not a stimulant effect and not a treatment for clinical fatigue syndromes.
Thiamin (B1), vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 each have EFSA-backed roles in normal psychological function and normal energy-yielding metabolism; B6 and B12 also contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue where conditions of use are met.5,6,7
That is the regulatory backdrop for B-vitamin morning formulas such as KLAR / DAILY. Research on tea constituents is separate: combination studies of L-theanine and caffeine have examined attention and mood in healthy adults (for example Kelly et al., 2008; Haskell et al., 2008), often at doses that differ from a given food-supplement portion.8,9 EU alertness claims for caffeine require defined portion thresholds; lower amounts may still be declared without those claim wordings.
BALANS / DAILY combines named bacterial species with short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS / Actilight®-type fibre). Human studies have examined scFOS and fecal bifidobacteria (for example Bouhnik et al., 2007), but at the amounts used in many capsules there is no EU-authorised health claim for that specific blend.10 Honest labelling states what is inside; it does not invent gut or immunity outcomes.
EU authorised language is that zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal serum testosterone. Clinical restriction/repletion work shows testosterone can fall when zinc status is driven down and rise when deficiency is corrected — that is not the same as “boosting” already-normal levels in marketing copy.2,3
MEN / DAILY centres on zinc and niacin (with blueberry fruit extract and botanicals listed without separate authorised claims). KLAR / DAILY centres on B1, B6, B12 plus caffeine and L-theanine. BALANS / DAILY centres on cultures and fibre with no authorised health claim for the combination.
No. They are foods. They should not replace a varied diet, diagnose or treat disease, or exceed labelled doses.
